HOW TO ENTER

There is no fee to enter the contest, other than festival admission.

You must build, carve, and/or decorate your Pepper Creation at home.

From your garden or the grocery store, gather any kind of fresh peppers, vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, herbs, etc. (see rule #1) and start being creative!!!!

When you’re done, give your creation a name or title, fill out the Entry Form and bring your creation to the Pepper Tent at the Pig’N’Pepper Fest. You will need to pay for admission to the festival in order to submit your entry.

TIPS:

Don’t assemble your creation too far in advance; the fresher it is at the time of judging, the better it will look.
If using hot peppers in your creation, USE LATEX GLOVES and DON’T TOUCH YOUR EYES, NOSE OR MOUTH AFTER HANDLING THE HOT PEPPERS!

CONTEST RULES:

Maximum of 3 entries per person will be accepted.

Some type of FRESH PEPPER must be used in every creation. Creations may also include other vegetables and fruits (fresh or dried), nuts, beans, herbs & spices, pasta, rice, etc. – basically, anything edible.
Other materials can also be used (glue, toothpicks, sticks, material, paper, art materials, etc) but the majority of the creation must consist of edible materials
Design must be “family-friendly” (nothing obscene or explicit). Acceptability will be at the Judges’ discretion.
Creations should be displayed on flat cardboard, a strong paper plate, or a low-sided box. Creation may be affixed to the display base for stability. There must be no writing or other identification on the display.
All entries must be dropped off and registered by 2:00pm at the Pepper Tent. Gallery will be open for public viewing and voting from 2pm to 3:30pm. Official judging starts at 3:30pm. Winners will be announced at the North Stage at approximately 4:20pm, on the festival website after the event, and may be included in press releases after the event.
Any creation that is not picked up by the end of the festival (6pm) will be discarded.

JUDGING

Divisions: Adult (18 or over); Teen (13-17); Youth (7-12); and Child (6 or under).

Entry Categories include People & Animals (real or imaginative); Plants & Flowers; Inanimate Objects; and Other (anything that doesn’t fit into the previous categories).

Entries will be judged on creativity, technical skill, humor, and visual appeal. Decision of judges is final.

PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded for the top entry (as determined by the judges) in each division. If the number of entries is sufficient, there may also be a winner in each category within the division.

There will also be a “People’s Choice” winner for each division, as voted by festival attendees.

Prizes may include gift certificates for local restaurants, stores, and other local businesses, as well as medals and/or trophies.
